Since he posted the first one in November 2016 and enjoyed great success he has continued to post pictures of cats and sometimes branches out to other animals as well. The intended audience was his tumblr followers and the consequential audience is all of tumblr and the internet, as it went viral. This is a fairly unproblematic meme, as the creator is Russian.
