I find it interesting that the term viral came from virus. I guess it makes sense as virus spread quickly and that was what the advertisers were trying to do. They were also trying to “infect” their audience, so I suppose you could say that viral marketing is similar to a sickness. I think that the three criteria for viral marketing also apply to other forms of marketing and to our Project 3. We are trying to get a message out, and these three steps are created for that. in any situation, it is important to find the right messenger. Without the correct messenger, the message won’t spread. Although the three types of messengers doesn’t apply to us in our project the point still stands. The message the crucial part of the process, without it there is nothing to be spread. It is important that we make our message “interesting and memorable” so it will be passed along. People don’t like to be bored and if you can’t capture their attention in a couple seconds, they probably won’t care about you or your message, no matter how important it may be. The environment is important as well. Playing to you audience is a critical factor in everything from comedy to advertisement. A message that may be well suited for one audience may offend or go over the heads of another audience.
