I think that the idea of shitty first drafts can be applied to most, if not all parts of our lives. A lot of the time we are afraid of trying something we’ve never tried before because we are afraid that someone will see us be bad at something. It makes beginning something new more terrifying than it should be, because when you do something for the first time, you’re not supposed to be perfect, good, or even passable at it. In truth, you’re supposed to be shitty at it, because if you are naturally talented at something the first time you do it everyone will stare at you enviously and hate you for it. The good thing about being shitty at something in the beginning means that you have nowhere left to go but up. I think people should take pride in their shitty first drafts because shitty first drafts proves that you were there, that you tried and all the beautiful end results came out of that first pile of shit. So take all the falls, all the misspellings, all the nonsensical gibberish and wear them as a badge of pride, because they mean that you were willing to put yourself out there.
